King Seiko, the inhouse competition for Grand Seiko was phased out by Seiko in the 1970s which all but crowned Grand Seiko the winner between the two rival high-end Seiko Manufacturers. This should not diminish what King Seiko achieved, however, and collectors understand that the two brands are more alike than they are different.
